How long does the East Coast take?

Most people do it in 3–6 weeks. 3 weeks is the minimum to hit the highlights without rushing. 6 weeks lets you slow down and do the Daintree properly.
Is it safe to travel solo?

Yes — the East Coast is one of the best solo travel routes in the world. The hostels are social by design and you'll meet other solo travellers at every stop. It's genuinely hard to be lonely.
What's the best time of year to go?

April–October is the sweet spot — warm but not humid. June–August is our favourite for the whole coast. December–February is peak summer in the south but tropical north Queensland gets very wet.
Do I need to book everything in advance?

Sailing tours and reef trips should be booked ahead, especially in peak season. Popular party hostels fill fast. Transport passes can be bought before you fly.
What's the average daily budget?

Budget travellers typically spend $80–$120 AUD per day (dorm beds, meals, public transport). Mid-range is $150–$200. Add experience costs on top for the big stops.
